GENERAL INFORMATION

1  ] WHAT IS TABBEDOUT?
TabbedOut is a free app that lets you open, view and pay your bar and restaurant tabs with your phone. It eliminates the need to flag down a waitstaff, wait in a line at the end of the night or go back to a venue to find a card you left behind. You can also use TabbedOut to split a check among your friends, letting the app do all the math for you and eliminating the hassle for your waitstaff dealing with a mountain of credit cards.

2  ] HOW DOES TABBEDOUT WORK?
TabbedOut integrates with most hospitality point-of-sale systems and is seamless for the venue and the waitstaff serving you. The process is simple. Tell your server that you would like to pay using TabbedOut and order as you normally would. After you open your tab, the server will see a button matching your name on their point of sale system. They will then connect your tab directly to your phone, so you can see your order as it is entered into the system. When you are ready to leave, you simply consult your open tab to review your bill, set your preferred tip amount, hit "pay tab" and leave. It is that easy!

3  ] IS TABBEDOUT SECURE ENOUGH TO ENTER IN MY CREDIT CARD DATA?
TabbedOut was developed to be more secure than traditional payment methods. No longer will you need to give your credit card to someone you don’t know and put yourself at risk for identity theft, as with traditional magnetic strip cards. Nor will you have to worry about someone hacking into the “cloud” to get your financial data. With TabbedOut, your credit card information is stored on your phone and is encrypted within the TabbedOut application so it is not visible in any way. When a tab is opened, your card information is sent under encryption directly to the restaurant’s point-of-sale system, so your phone never leaves your hands.

4  ] DO YOU STORE MY CREDIT CARD DATA SOMEWHERE?
NO! All communications and data are secured with 256-bit AES encryption on your phone, so even if you lose your phone, your stored card information is safe.

5  ] HOW MUCH DOES TABBEDOUT COST?
TabbedOut is free for consumers. We have no service charges or incremental fees associated with our service. You can use the app to pay bar and restaurant tabs and get rewarded with offers at no additional charge.

HOW IT WORKS

6  ] HOW DO I SET IT UP?
If you’re setting up for the first time, just follow the steps to create an account and securely add your existing credit or debit card, or Google Wallet Account. It’s quick, easy and all your data is safely encrypted. Once you have set up a payment source, you are ready to find a venue near you.

7  ] CAN I USE DIFFERENT PAYMENT OPTIONS?
Yes, you can add as many cards as you want as well as Google Wallet to pay. We accept all major credit cards and debit cards. Coming soon, we are adding Bitpay!

To add an additional card after setting up your first one, click on your image to go to your account view, then click on the section labeled "Credit Card information" or with a visual of an existing card. Then you simply click “Add a Card, ”enter your details and you are ready to go.

8  ] HOW DO I OPEN A TAB?
After launching the app, you will see a list of locations that accept TabbedOut. This will be sorted by where they are in proximity to your location.

Once you find a location you wish to visit, simply tap "Open a Tab” when you arrive and are seated. Be sure and tell your server that you are using TabbedOut before you order and give them your full name. You can also use the code that is given to you.

9  ] HOW DO I SPLIT A CHECK?
Most TabbedOut locations allow you to pay a portion of the total tab directly from TabbedOut. It is easy to do:
  1. Once you select a venue, if that location supports partial payments you will see a button labeled “Join A Tab”.
  2. Have one person in your party open a tab. Make a note of the tab code for your friends to use.
  3. The rest of your party should then tap the “Join A Tab” button and enter the code you were given.
  4. Once everyone has joined, simply refresh the tab on the original user and you will see all the people splitting with you.
When you are ready to pay, simply tap the "Split Tab" button to estimate your share of the check. Then tap "Pay Tab" to submit your payment.

Ensure that everyone pays their share, as the original tab owner is the one on file that will receive any unclaimed portion of the bill.

10] HOW DO I EARN OFFERS?
The more you pay tabs using TabbedOut, the more chances you’ll have to receive offers. You can find offers two ways:
  1. When a venue has a specific offer, there will be a $* icon that appears in the upper right hand corner of the venue image on the home screen. If you are in the venue with a tab open, you can then click "manage offers" to see the details of the offer. Offers might include special deals on drinks or food items or just a simple “Thank You” offer courtesy of the venue.
  2. We often show our gratitude to our customers by offering special perks regardless of the venue. That might include an offer to thank you for using TabbedOut often, a discount on a particular brand of food or beverage item, or credit for answering surveys that we occasionally send to our customers. You will know there is a thank you offer when you see a $* icon located in the upper right hand corner of your screen.

11] HOW DO I REDEEM AN OFFER?
You will know there is an offer available at a venue when you see the $* sign in the upper right hand corner of locations in the home screen. Since offers are applied to your tab directly through the app, you must first have an open tab before you can redeem them.
  1. When there are offers available for your tab, you can tap "manage offers" to see more details.
  2. Note, many offers require a minimum tab amount so it is important to check the details or the links to websites if you have any questions.
  3. Once you qualify for the offer, you’ll be asked if you want to redeem. Just tap the redeem button and the offers discount will be applied automatically to your open tab.
If you have any offers you haven’t redeemed on your tab, the app will also remind you to apply them before you pay.

12] CAN I GET A COPY OF MY RECEIPT?
Gone are the days when you are trying to find a paper receipt or stress about leaving the wrong copy behind, because TabbedOut will email your receipt to the address you used when creating your account after you tap "Pay Tab". You can also email another copy by visiting your previous tabs under "You".

13] WHERE DOES MY FEEDBACK GO WHEN I SEND IT?
You can use our in-app feedback to let the venue know more about your experience. Did you love a particular waiter or did you have a suggestion for a new dish? Let them know! Our venues get your feedback directly and can respond to you.

14] WHAT HAPPENS IF MY PHONE RUNS OUT OF CHARGE WHILE I AM USING TABBEDOUT?
Don't worry! Since your payment information is sent securely to the point-of-sale system when you open a tab, your server can close your tab manually. You won't get a receipt automatically in this case, so if you need a receipt, be sure to ask your server.

LOCATIONS AND TIPPING

16] WHERE IS TABBEDOUT AVAILABLE?
TabbedOut is available nationwide and we are adding locations daily. Our application automatically displays TabbedOut locations near you using your mobile phone’s GPS. You can also search for specific places by the location name, postal code, city or state from within the app.

17] HOW CAN I FIND LOCATIONS NEAR ME THAT ACCEPT TABBEDOUT?
TabbedOut works best when you enable location services to show your GPS location while the app is in use.
  • For Apple devices, you can turn on location settings by visiting Settings > Privacy > Location Services = On > TabbedOut > While Using the App.
  • For Android devices, you can turn on location settings by visiting Settings > Locations.
If you do not wish to allow location settings or if you are getting incorrect GPS information, simply type in the city and state, for example "Austin, TX", where you are located into the search bar. The search bar can be found by pulling down on the home page.

18] WHY AM I ONLY SEEING VENUES IN AUSTIN, TEXAS?
If TabbedOut can't find your location, it will default to our HQ in Austin, TX.

TabbedOut uses Location Services to determine your location and give you a list of nearby venues, and it sounds like you may have Location Services disabled for TabbedOut on your phone. To change this:
  • For Apple devices, you can turn on location settings by visiting Settings > Privacy > Location Services = On > TabbedOut > While Using the App.
  • For Android devices, you can turn on location settings by visiting Settings > Locations.
(Note: You may need to drag/release the locations list after doing this to see locations near you.)

If you prefer to leave location services disabled, no problem, but you will need to search the locations list by city and state, for example "Los Angeles, CA" when you wish to find a nearby location.

19] DOES USING TABBEDOUT CREATE A PROBLEM FOR MY SERVER?
Not at all. In fact, it makes their life easier, especially when it comes time to split the check. Order from your waiter or bartender as you normally would, and then pay your tab from the application whenever you’re ready.

After you open your tab, tell your server you want to pay using TabbedOut. They will see a button matching your name on their point-of-sale system. They will then connect your tab directly to your phone via their system, so you can see your order as it is entered into the system.

20] WHAT IF THE SERVER HASN’T USED TABBEDOUT BEFORE?
Once you've opened a tab with TabbedOut, tell your server and share your full name with them. We integrate with the venue’s point-of-sale system in such a way that your server simply selects your name directly from their point-of-sale system screen. They can also use the code we provide, although it is rarely necessary. If there are more questions, the restaurant or bar can reach us at (866) 626-8045 ext. 2.

21] CAN I STILL TIP MY WAITSTAFF?
Of course you can. Tabbedout includes an easy to use slider that calculates the percentage tip you want or lets you customize your own.

22] HOW DOES THE VENUE KNOW I PAID?
TabbedOut is integrated with the venue’s point-of-sale system and notifies the management and staff when a tab is paid. Even if you forget until after you left the venue, all you have to do is hit the “pay my tab” button and you are set! And don’t worry, you can still ensure your waitperson gets the tip they deserve, simply slide the scale up and down on our automatic calculator.
