Tabbedout introduces mobile-based cash payments
AUSTIN, TX. – April 1, 2012 –Tabbedout, the mobile payment solution that enables customers to open, view and pay their bar or restaurant tab with their phone, now accepts cash as a payment method. Consumers simply download Tabbedout and in addition to storing a credit card in the app, they now can scan their cash into the app.
“Consumers want to pay with their phones, and giving them the ability to use cash to pay their tab is another way we are revolutionizing mobile payments.” said Arturo Coto, vice president of marketing for Tabbedout. “We have developed a presidential face reader that will scan a customer’s cash, proving that we are on the cutting edge of mobile technology.”
The Tabbedout app now features a reader that will scan a patron’s cash. A customer simply holds their greenbacks up to the reader, aligns the president’s eyes with the infrared coordinates and waits for the cash to disintegrate into digital form, which confirms that their cash has been scanned. Then, they show the image of their cash displayed on their phone to the bartender or server to make payment.
“Cash is king and I’ve been looking for a way to pay with cash without having to actually carry cash,” said Jon Cibolo, a fan of paying with paper money in a mobile way. “Now I can pay my bar and restaurant tabs with a scanned picture of my cash—it’s sort of retro, but it’s not.”
Available for free on both iPhone and Android phones, Tabbedout has more than 400 locations nationwide. Initially, the cash integration will roll out to select Tabbedout locations in Austin, Texas, Tabbedout’s home base, with additional locations accepting cash in the coming weeks.*
*Coins not accepted at this time, but look for a slot where you can insert them on your phone coming soon.
